P168 Invalid SIM

Postby DJ_Spider on Monday, July 7, 2008 10:55AM GMT (+00:00)

OK just got one of these today. I am the new O2 clear tarrif in Ireland. My SIM works in my other phone, but when I put it into the P168+ it comes up SIM card registration failed and shows Invalid SIM on the screen. My G/F is on O2 PAYG and her SIM does the same. I bought it from eBay and there was some videos and sounds already on it. So I think someone had this before me and couldn't get it to work either. Thing is the seller is in Hong Kong and they are 9hrs behind us, so email takes ages to get a reply. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? I have tried making the SIM slot pins raised a bit but still nothing. It happens in both slots.

Edit: I tried the SIM card one of our Italian students had, they are with Wind and it logged onto Vodafone Ireland. Going to try a friend's Meteor SIM later. If it works with those, will be putting it on eBay! Meteor SIM not work either!

Hi the solution is simple , after days of trawling the net for a solution i figured it out myself by ripping the receiver module to bits , the reason why you get invalid sim is because the phone cannot operate 2 simcards on the same frequency , i.e. o2 and vodafone (uk) both work on gsm 900 and you cannot use them together but if you use a t-mobile and a o2 or a t-mobile and vodafone they work fine because t-mobile works on 1900gsm !! , slight design flaw methinks!

Well I have now sold it to someone in Ireland on eBay! They are on Vodafone Ireland, so hopefully it will work! If not I'll have to send it back and get a refund!

If your Sims is working in other Phones and not working with this Phone, Please Fold a one dollar bill or fold a small paper on top of both sims so the battery can push the Sim down to the Unit. Hope this work for everyone....
